When The Brook Dries UP

Heyyyyyy Fam,

Turning 45 has been a powerful season of reflection and recompense for me, and it’s shown me something important: sometimes, we must release what no longer serves us to embrace the blessings we've been praying for.

Many look at my journey and assume it's been luck, but it’s been God’s grace and a lot of hard work, letting go, and courage. I want to share what I'm learning in this season and ask you an essential question:

What do you need to release so you can step into all that God has for you?

Let’s look at what it takes to recognize when it's time to move on and experience the blessings from trusting God’s timing.

Recognizing the Brook Has Dried Up

God often gives us signs that it’s time to leave a situation, relationship, or mindset behind. But when we’ve stayed too long, it becomes easy to miss the signs.

In the story of Elijah, God provided water from a brook, but when the brook dried up, it was time for him to leave (1 Kings 17:7-9). If Elijah had stayed, he would’ve missed God’s provision in the next place.

Here are some signs you may have stayed too long:

You Feel Spiritually Stagnant: You’re no longer growing in your current...Read More

You Were Called to Be a Mother, Not a Martyr

Definition: Martyr - A martyr is someone who sacrifices their own needs, desires, and well-being for the sake of others, often to an extreme or unhealthy degree.

Hey Ladies,

I want to start by reminding you of something incredibly important: you were called to be a mother, not a martyr. In a world where it often feels like we need to do it all and be it all, I'm here to tell you that it's okay to let go of that burden.

It's time to empower ourselves to shift our current situation to one that we desire. And one of the most effective ways to do this is by bringing our families in on the journey. It's time to delegate tasks and responsibilities, and not just any tasks, but age-appropriate ones that allow our children to contribute meaningfully to the family unit.

But I understand that letting go of control can be difficult. We've been taught that as mothers, we need to do everything ourselves. But I'm here to challenge that notion. It's okay to ask for help. It's okay to delegate tasks to capable family members. It's okay to take some things off your plate.

And perhaps most importantly, it's okay to acknowledge when we've been taught wrong. But the beauty is, it's never too late to change the trajectory. Our actions and reflections as mothers don't just affect our daughters; they also set the tone for our sons. They learn from us...Read More

The Genesis of My Transformation:

My story is not one of perfection but a journey marked by evolution. Growing up, I encountered hurdles within my family dynamics that, I didn’t even realize were hurdles until I became an adult. Raised amidst the complexities of a family with its unique set of challenges, I realized that to positively shift the family dynamic, I first had to embark on a personal odyssey—a journey of understanding, healing, and self-empowerment. I found myself propelled towards a path of self-work, self-reflection, and a profound desire to break free from inherited patterns.

Becoming a Mother: A Transformative Catalyst:

I was not judging the experiences as good or bad, I just knew that they weren’t things I wished to replicate while nurturing my personal family who God trusted me with. The moment I became a mother prompted deep introspection and a conscious decision a profound shift in my perspective. I realized the responsibility I held in shaping the environment for my children. It was a catalyst for change, compelling me to break free from inherited patterns and create a nurturing space for my family.

A Pillar of Positive Change:

One of my key pillars in my coaching business is “helping the busy mom positively shift her family dynamic so that she can live the life she desires”, this is a snippet of what that looks like. This transformative journey is the unwavering belief that positive change begins from within. What no one talks about is the grief and pain that comes with navigating the changes of your circle as you decide to grow. While personal growth is empowering, it's important to acknowledge that not everyone may understand or resonate with your newfound path. Here's how this process might impact your relationships:

1. Diverging Values:

As you solidify your quest for personal growth, your values may evolve. If your newfound values diverge significantly from those of friends or family, it can create a sense of disconnection. This doesn't diminish the importance of those relationships but highlights the need for understanding.

2. Misunderstandings:

Loved ones might not fully comprehend the depth of your journey or the changes you're undergoing. Misunderstandings can arise, leading to strained communication and potential feelings of...Read More

Embracing Change: Letting Go in Self-Awareness and Relationships, a Lesson from Autumn
As the vibrant greens of summer fade into the warm hues of autumn, nature offers us a beautiful metaphor for self-awareness in relationships. I'm your certified life coach and simplicity cultivator, here to guide you through the art of letting go in self-awareness within your relationships.

Autumn, with its falling leaves and changing landscapes, teaches us invaluable lessons about releasing what no longer serves us, embracing change, and nurturing personal growth. In the same way, self-awareness can be our compass to navigate relationships more harmoniously by recognizing when it's time to let go.

The Symbolism of Autumn
Autumn is a season of transition. It's a time when trees shed their leaves, preparing for the colder months ahead. This process may appear melancholic, but it's essential for the tree's survival. Similarly, in our relationships, letting go of certain aspects can be a transformative and necessary step towards growth and renewal.

Identifying What Needs to Go
Self-awareness is the first step in recognizing what needs to be released in your relationships. Take time to reflect on your interactions and emotions within your connections:

1. Unhealthy Patterns: Are there recurring negative patterns in your relationships? These might include constant arguments, lack of communication, or emotional distance.

<span...Read More

Well it's September, a time when nature gracefully transitions from the vibrant energy of summer to the serene embrace of autumn. It's a month that beckons us to pause, just for a moment, and reflect on our lives. As a certified life coach and your dedicated simplicity cultivator, I invite you, to join me on a journey of self-discovery and rejuvenation.

In the hustle and bustle of everyday life, we often find ourselves caught up in a whirlwind of responsibilities and commitments, leaving little room for self-work and reflection. This September, I encourage you to take a much-needed pause, like a sabbatical for your soul, to identify what and who truly deserves your attention and prioritize them.

The Need for Pause:
Life moves at an unprecedented pace, especially for women who juggle multiple roles – mothers, partners, business owners, and so much more. It's easy to get lost in the chaos, leaving us feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, and disconnected from our true selves. This is where the September Sabbatical comes in – it's a deliberate act of self-work and reflection to regain clarity and reduce chaos.

Identifying Priorities:
During this sacred pause, take time to identify your priorities. What truly matters to you? Who are the people and activities that bring you the most joy and fulfillment? By discerning your priorities, you can begin to reclaim your time and energy for the things that matter most.

Tools for Sustainable Change:
As your dedicated simplicity cultivator, I'm here to...Read More

Well It’s May!
I hope you have been well. I was wondering what to share with you this month and the old saying came to mind. The saying is "April showers bring May flowers". In this simple statement it says so much. The showers come before the beauty. Showers are necessary for beauty to bloom in your life.

Every part of the process is necessary and required for the desired result to appear.
The seeds you have sown need water to promote the growth of the fruit. I pray
that this month you will see the manifestation of the fruit from the seeds that
you have sown.

Last month maybe it didn’t look like anything was happening, but I decree today that God was cultivating the ground on your behalf. I pray that you do not become weary in well doing because your season of fruit is near. Because you have sown well God says that you will reap well, and I declare that it will be a mighty harvest.

The enemy will try to come and whisper in your ear that you have wasted your time and that God doesn’t hear you. But the devil is a liar, and his words fall flat to the ground and bear no fruit in anything concerning you.

You will prosper.
Your family will prosper.
Your ideas will come forth and prosper.
Your business will prosper.

In the next shift of your life there is uncertainty, however, just know that you will prosper.

The leap that God is asking you to take, do not...Read More

Happy Women’s Month!

It’s March and that means that it is Women History Month! I want to take this moment to salute you because you are “Women’s History.” You do not have to be famous or a celebrity to be considered a pioneer in the women’s movement. In a paraphrased term, a pioneer would be a person who is first to settle or explore new land.

Many of my clients, friends, and myself would be considered the "first" to have the courage to brave unchartered territory from their surroundings. It could be choosing to do things another way than you were taught, or even having blind faith and trusting God through a trying time because you had no other choice.

I want to share a synopsis of how I have put my stamp on the women’s history movement and why I consider myself to be a pioneer.

I had my whole life mapped out my senior year in high school every detail all the
way down to the white picket fence. Let’s just say that is the only thing that I
got right was the white picket fence, and that came much later than I planned…lol

As my purpose began to unfold, I found myself in a place where I was in position
to wear many hats, but I had no idea how to be what I had become, if that makes sense.

I was already a woman of course, however...Read More

Expressing love with our children is so very important. Saying it until it becomes natural and hug it out until it feels good , even if it wasn't your norm.

Can I share something with you?

Someone asked, why do I put HER in all caps when I talk about MotHERhood,

I said “I’m glad you asked.”

I coach women who have become mothers. I help them understand that they were women first, with femininity, grace and beauty. Just because they now have children, they don’t have to lose that, matter of fact it is important to embrace it.

The HER in MotHERhood is in all caps as a reminder to keep herself and illuminate herself through the role of taking care of her children.

The HER in...Read More

Happy 2023!!!

Let me start by saying that the last few years have been interesting. For me, 2020 was a pivotal point in my life, 2021 kicked me in the gut, however, 2022 was finally the year that I made a CHOICE to live life.

I know that sounds a bit odd, but it's true. Loss can make you examine your life and how you live it, and that's precisely what happened. I began to take my mental health more seriously and learn the standards for my life.

Let me encourage you to examine your life for the new year. No more FOMO (Fear.Of.Missing.Out) when you live the life you want you may have to miss a few things, by doing the following:

I want to charge you to take inventory of the things in your life. What needs to stay and what do you need to let go of?

Do a self-assessment of where you are in life. Think about what your desires are and how you can do your part to achieve them.

Gather with your strategic friends and make goals on how to help each other level up and be great. Make those brunch meet-ups count...lol

Be intentional with yourself, your time, and your peace.

Make the time to do the things that make you not just smile, but laugh. A good ole LOL does a body good. In the upcoming year as many people, places, and things present themselves, ask yourself if this/they fit in the plans that you have made. When you have your answer proceed accordingly.

2023 is for clarity, choices, and simplicity. I pray that once you gain clarity on what's been foggy in your life you will have the courage to make the choices necessary to live the life of simplicity you...Read More
